Haunted Carolinas is moving into the future! We now have Android Apps! (Only one for the time being, but the other is in development currently)
The apps are filled with information on some haunted locations in North And South Carolina. The app that is currently out is the North Carolina version. The SC version will be coming soon. Unfortunately, this app is for Android OS phones only. I do not own an iphone or ipad, and have no clue how to develop for those formats. There will be no ios apps in the future, sorry for the inconvenience!
Keep in mind, I am not a programmer. This app is very basic, and simple...BUT, it is filled with information that fans of the paranormal will enjoy, and hopefully find useful! Also, the apps have APP only information that cannot be found on the site. Some of the locations are mentioned here, but some information is exclusive to our app. Now you can have Haunted Carolinas information with you no matter where you are.
The program I used to create this app is limited (as of now, upgrades are expected in the future) and you cannot create apps with multiple screens (at least not in a way that I understand) so you create web links to your data. Other apps that do this are VERY slow, and cumbersome. My goal was to make this app run as quickly as possible over wifi or 3G connections. The first link you click will take a couple seconds, then each additional link you click will be quicker. And, trust me, it's pretty quick! I didn't want this app to be a bother to anyone, I want it to be enjoyed!! Once you read each link, your "BACK" button on your phone takes you right back to the app. Once you are finished with the app, just hit your menu button and tell it to exit. Simple!!
I tried to make this app accessible to all screen sizes. On your phone, it should fill the screen nicely. On tablets, the main body of the app will appear in a smaller window, but all links will open up to full size so that you can read the information the way it should be, and you can easily view the images. I have only tested this app on a couple of phones, and one tablet but it worked nicely on all of these devices.
To use these apps, you must understand how to install third party apps on your android device, this app will not be found in the Android Market. It's exclusive to our website.
To install this app, follow these instructions:
1.You must first go under settings/applications on your phone, and look for a box that says "Unknown Sources". Make sure this is checked, because it allows you to install apps other than ones downloaded through the market.
2.Download the apk file (the android file extension for apps) from this page.

The file is zipped, so you will need a zip extraction program on your PC. Here is a great free one. This is the one I use on my PC. Once you have this software (or the zip software of your choice) extract the HauntedNC.apk file from the zip file you just downloaded. You can then delete the zip file, you will no longer need it.
3. Next step is to get the file from your PC, to your phone. Use your data cable that came with your phone to do this. Move the file onto the SD card in your phone. If you don't want to use your data cable, there are some GREAT FTP apps on the android market that will allow you to wirelessly send this file to your phone. The one I use can be found here.
4. Now you need to have a file manager app installed on your Android device. I use a GREAT free one from the market. You can find it here. Open this (or any) file manager app and browse to the files on your SD card until you find the Haunted Carolinas app that you just put there. Once you locate it, just click it to install. Very simple.
The process I just listed here can be used for ANY third party app you download from the internet.

Once you have used the barcode to download the apk to your SD card, skip to step (4.) in the install directions above to install the app to your phone
The apk and zip files you will find here are COMPLETELY clean and safe! No malware, no virus files, no hidden problems! The app will ask you for permissions when you install it, because it needs to access the internet. No other permissions are used with this app, it doesn't make calls, or texts, or log your data (I wouldn't know how to program it to do that even if I wanted to). Using apps found here is completely safe. In the case that your phone does not like an app downloaded from here, and causes strange activity simply uninstall the app. A good uninstaller can be found here.
As with anything you download from the internet, do this at your own risk. The files you get from here are safe, and free of virus and malware, but I cannot be responisible for anything that happens to your phone during this process. If you follow these easy steps, you will be completely safe, but you should always take precautions when downloading anything from the internet.
