We mourn the passing of a member of our community and honor his memory and accomplishments

Our Friend Chad

Dedicated to the Memory of Chad Austin

As paranormal Investigators we tend to become desensitized to death. In some of the cases we investigate many distance them selves from any emotional bonds with the clients that may cloud their judgment. We take the stories with a grain of salt then throw ourselves into the hunt, trying to gather evidence to bring comfort or resolution to the people that look to us for answers. Sometimes we are allowed to display our findings to the public to help others sometimes not. In any case this gives us a sense of accomplishment and pride.( We did it, We communicated with the other side is often heard). But when it hits close to home we begin to realize how fragile life really can be. When it’s gone the world suffers. From birth we are given a wonderful gift. The gift of always growing, learning and ability to teach others. When we lose one of our own we forget that we not only have lost a buddy to hang out with but the knowledge that he possess and all that he will ever be able to teach us.

I met Chad at the Green Park Inn Paranormal conference last year. My first impression of him was of a well spoken extremely intelligent giant of a man. He was very friendly and polite to a fault. Between speakers Chad, Jeremiah Mikey and myself sat in the conference hall and chewed the fat. We discussed EVPs EMFs RFs and all the BS that guys do. There are so few people out there that I’ve been able to build a instant bond with, but Chad was one of them. I remember telling one of my group members in the hall during the hunt that if something gets after us I’m hiding behind Chad. He just had that comforting presence about him. When I decided to have a conference of my own Chad was one of the first names that came to mind. On conference day just as expected Chad did not disappoint. I remember seeing the faces of the audience as they inched to the edges of their seats when he played the EVP evidence he had compiled. It compared closely with the emotional response one would expect from a theater full of classical music enthusiast listening to a violinists pouring out the performance of his life. One other event with Chad that also stands out in my mind. I was giving out the door prizes after the banquet, Chad stood up, went to the microphone and in a Hi-pitched voice said (Oh my god I just won a weekend for two in Dublin Ireland with Barry Fitzgerald---aaahhh) The hole room busted out in laughter. Chad was that guy, you know who I mean, the guy that no matter how bad you felt he could always make you laugh. I am very proud to call him my friend and feel richer for knowing him. There needs to be more Chads in the paranormal field. He will be missed!
